I’ve been praying for the same thing for so long I didn’t even realize I am living it. What do I mean by that?

When I left my job at Louisville Athletics in 2020 I was completely beaten down. I had lost my drive and purpose from a work standpoint. Not my purpose in life, just at work. But sometimes work can feel like your life especially if it isn’t energizing and bringing you joy. It took me over 18 months and 300+ job applications (all over the country) for me to finally get a new opportunity right here in Louisville thanks to a friend referring for me a job opening. I got the job and I took it without hesitation and it has opened the door to my current life.

One thing that changed dramatically during my time at UofL was my renewed and increased faith, prayer life, and relationship with God. If you know God, you know his time and plan for your life is perfect. But you also know God doesn’t work on your timeline rather on his own and at his own speed. He will challenge your faith but on the other side is exactly what he intended for you.

5 years ago I had this design and plan for my new life. I was in pursuit of a balanced, full, and meaningful life that would not be defined by my job but by the combination of everything that makes me who I am. So I decided to pray for it often and frequently

• Strong family life with Kara

• 9-5 work hours only

• Flexible work style

• Create an entrepenuerial mindset

• Take calculated business risks

• Build side hustle(s)

• Become active in real estate

• Join entrepreneur groups and communities

Over the last 5 years I’ve been praying for these things daily, for so long, doing my best to pray, journal, manifest, and take bold action.

The last few months I have been feeling all around beat down again. Someone encouraged me to change the way I am praying and be more honest and conversational and have God meet me where I was at, as opposed to putting on a “proper prayer show.”

So, I did just that and I just started praying for all the things I am thankful for. I quickly realized that all of the things I’m thankful for are the things I’ve been praying about so intently for the last 5 years. I am literally living it. So here’s the prayer list again:

• Strong family life with Kara AND SUNNY! I honestly didn’t know how beautiful my marriage and family life were going to be. I am so lucky and so happy.

• 9-5 work hours only. Going from 60-70 hour work weeks in sports to 40 hours in corporate life is a cheat code for life. I’m lucky to have realized this by the time I was 30 before we started a family

• Flexible work style. I work from home, I pick up Sunny from daycare at 4, I work from different coffee shops around the city. And I can do it from literally anywhere

• Create an entrepreneurial mindset. Constantly taking in information from entrepreneurs and applying to life

• Take calculated business risks. Some calculated and some not so calculated but damn do I have some stories and experiences

• Build side hustle(s) Coach G’s Bar Beverages and Trusted Home Goods. I accrued massive business debt but pivoted and scaled the business out of debt to profitability this year.

• Become active in real estate. We are renting out our old condo and are about to go under contract for a 15 unit multi family complex in the next week

• Join entrepreneur groups and communities I’m in 5 different Entrepreneurial communities nationally and travel to attend different workshops. I also meet frequently with a few friends locally for business building days

So my realization…I’ve been living this and didn’t even realize how lucky I am. So I feel kind of stupid but also blown away. Sometimes it takes reframing your mindset to realize what you really have. Sure the last 5 years have had significant challenges and there are still more to come. But you have to go through to get to the breakthrough. Keep that in mind
