Self Doubt

Your thoughts shape your reality, so watch what you think!

Question: Who do you spend the most time with?

Answer: It’s Yourself

So how do you treat yourself? I mean the inner voice in your head. Does it talk to you in a loving supportive way? Is it your biggest fan? Or does it criticize your every move, thoughts, decisions, actions and inactions? This issue has been resurfacing for me almost all year - but I think it’s because I’m in the midst of so much change but also on the verge of huge break throughs!

Anyway, if you’re struggling with this or next time you realize you’re dealing with inner negativity and self doubt - you’re not alone. In search for some positive reinforcements I try to listen to a podcast of someone who I respect, conveys realness, and provides valuable insight. One of my favorite people is Ed Mylett and it just so happens this past week he put out an episode that shared some incredible insights on overcoming self-doubt, and I want to pass these lessons along to you. As we close out the year and turn the page to 2025 - keep these in mind when you’re making new goals and planning to make 2025 the best year yet.

Stop Letting Mistakes Define You

One of most powerful points from this episode is the importance of separating who you are from what you do. Mistakes are inevitable, but they don’t define your value. Instead of internalizing failure, see it as a learning opportunity. You’re not your mistakes—you’re the person capable of growing beyond them.

Change Your Inner Dialogue

We often speak to ourselves in ways we’d never speak to other people. Negative self-talk is destructive, keeping us stuck in cycles of self-doubt. So instead, try to rewrite this narrative. Talk to yourself with kindness and encouragement, as if you were cheering on a loved one or a friend. This shift in tone can have a profound impact on your confidence and resilience. The highest performing athletes in the world have similar ability but the difference between the best of the best is their positive inner dialogue. So if you make a mistake, shift your inner talk from saying “Damn I suck” to something like “That’s not like myself to make that mistake, I’m better than that.”

Embrace Self-Love and Certainty

Self-love is about holding yourself to a higher standard because you believe in your potential. True self-love means expecting more from yourself, not out of fear but out of a deep sense of belief in what you’re capable of achieving. Nobody else should believe in you more than you. What you believe begins to shape your reality so believe in good things and good things will happen.

Confidence is critical, and this comes from preparation, self-compassion, and consistent positive reinforcement. When you believe in your intentions and capabilities, you not only perform better but also inspire others around you.

Your Thoughts Shape Your Reality

There is a common saying that comes from the Bible - Proverbs 23:7 “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” In other words, where the mind goes, the man follows.

Our thoughts act as magnets, drawing experiences that align with the stories we tell ourselves. If you constantly focus on what you lack or fear, that’s what you’ll attract. But if you rewrite your story—focusing on strengths, possibilities, gratitude, and abundance—you’ll see your reality transform.

Take Action

Stop letting your inner critic run your life. Start rooting for yourself as fiercely as you would for your child, best friend, or loved one. Your worth isn’t tied to your mistakes or failures—it’s intrinsic, and you deserve to treat yourself with the same grace you extend to others.

Self-doubt doesn’t have to control our lives, it’s preventing us from achieving all that is out there for us. The shift begins with how we see and speak to ourselves. Remember, the story you tell yourself shapes your reality. Choose one that empowers you.
